It's up to you, the voiceover/visual actor talent to negotiate your fees with the Casting Director in the same way you always have. If you need some help or guidance on this check out these acting rate guides.
Casting Tools takes 0% commission on any jobs put through the site.
Casting Tools does not take money into Escrow, and therefore charges no fees or rates.
Casting Tools does not have any 'automatic' or 'managed' service jobs and does not make any additional charges.
Whatever the rates quoted to you, or negotiated with you by the Casting Directors are, that's what you should be paid.
In the first instance, Casting Tools is a service provided to Casting Directors - it's designed to make their lives easier, their workflows better and more efficient and will drastically reduce their admin overhead. So Casting Directors have to pay to use the service
Secondly, Agents can have free profiles if they want to send jobs to specific CD's that ask them to submit for a project, or they can have a paid account where they can receive all the jobs that all CD's cast.
Yes and No.
No: It's not public in the respect that it cannot be searched by the public, nor seen by the public. The only people who can see your profile are logged-in casting directors. You are not listed on any sitemap, nor any external page.
Yes/No: Further to the above, as part of your Actor Profile you can choose whether to be visible to even the Casting Director. If you are listed as 'Not Public' this means that you cannot be seen or searched by even the Casting Directors, only given direct links to audition directly by Casting Directors you know. If you are listed as 'Public' then you can be searched by any logged-in casting directors and invited to any roles.

All the P2P sites rely solely on getting more and more jobs in from more and more clients. It's an uphill struggle. Casting Directors want to use Casting Tools because it makes their life so much more easy, and provides more services and tools to them than they have already....so Casting Tools doesn't have to worry about constantly chasing jobs for the actors, and having to charge actors for the privilege, just to stay afloat.
Pay-to-play, we are most certainly not when it comes to actors!
Since Casting Tools is built for casting professionals, it does not differentiate the types of jobs that they put onto the site. As with fees, it's up to the casting professional to abide by any rules for union jobs or for non-union jobs.
We also do not provide any barrier between you and the Casting Director - if you are accepted for the job, the Director can contact you directly, and you then negotiate the fees and usage for the job as you always would, including any issues relating to whether the job is unionised.
This is an individual question for you to answer based on your contract with your agent. Some Agents will be happy for you to be (if you are allowed to source your own work) some may not be.
As far as we are concerned you're allowed to be on the platform - but you might want to check your contract first, especially as Agents are allowed profiles on here too.
They are not! Casting Tools provides an interface between the casting professional and the actor, and no other barriers. Imagine that a casting director called you up by seeing your profile/website online and asked you to audition, and then after that audition said that they'd like to offer you the job; you would then negotiate the fee directly with them on a job-by-job basis. It's exactly the same in this case - Casting Tools does not specify a low limit or a high limit per job....rather it's up to you to negotiate your rate and usage with the hirer.
With that said, we do provide optional guidance on rates for the casting directors when they are creating each role so they have access to example rates in the industry - taken from the Gravy For The Brain rateguide.

"I've long since believed that actors are getting ripped off by constantly having to put their hands in their pockets to get work. It's not fair, moral or just. It also means that the barrier to entry is financial as opposed to talent and skill. I have had the opportunity to start from scratch and create a moral and fair platform that gives everyone what they need, and makes life easier for everyone, where the feedback and grading is fair to all and based on good performances as opposed to how much money you can afford to pay..."
